Iris Odstrcil’s paper from the Engert Lab on how the larval zebrafish deals with self-stimulation of its own lateral line is out on the bioRxiv. This is a great example to showcase the range of techniques available in this model organism to tackle a question at a broad range of scales and dissect a circuit: behavior, calcium imaging, electron microscopy and genetics. Iris visited the lab last year to collect some final data and tell us about this work. It has been wonderful to be part of this collaboration and see the study develop.
